Diamonds

Diamond buying is a process of education and selection. A diamond's value is based on the well known 4 C's: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight. Each of these factors has its own impact on price.

The American Gem Society grading standards measure not only color and clarity but also cutting. These grades are not as well known as the GIA grading system, but they are easier to understand. The grades are from 0 to 10 with 0 being the best, 5 average and 10 the worst. Therefore, a diamond with a grade of 0/0/0 would be ideally cut, colorless and flawless.

Education alone does not make for successful buying; one must also select the shape of diamond, color and style of mounting. There are hundreds of mountings and it can be confusing. Ludwig's can help make the right decision -- whether it is your first-time purchase of an engagement ring or the selection of an anniversary band for your 25th anniversary. They have the experience, knowledge, and the desire to meet your buying needs.
